1937 SS 2.5Litre Coachbuilt Saloon
History of the Vehicle
Quite a rare car to be offered for sale. Has spent most of its life in Australia, was exported to Queensland in 1937.
In 1968 the car was bought by a Mr Carter who decided restoration was required. A lot of stripping down was done but then left, his son inherited it and continued the work but decided the car needed a professional job done. In the 1990’s he commissioned the Nantes brothers known for their top quality SS Jaguar restorations. A total restoration was carried out with a number of quality improvements made making the car better than when new. One of the improvements made was to fit a post-war 3.5 litre crankshaft giving more power and reliability, this is in Australia regarded as a must do improvement because of the high mileage covered over there.
Repatriated back to England in 2004 it has been used to do a few weddings and many shows taking home lots of trophies, also being featured in various magazines. An original metal spare wheel cover has recently been purchased that will be the final touch for this lovely useable car.
A vehicle that can be used and enjoyed for personal use or any of the organised Jaguar tours throughout the year.
