1948 Jaguar MK4 3.5 litre saloon
Special order for Jaguar Car’s director and general manager Arthur Whittaker. He retired from Jaguar Cars in 1968 after 46 years, starting out with Swallow Sidecar Company in Blackpool.
Ordered in black with tan pigskin upholstery and burr walnut veneer. The car today is in very similar condition as to when it was delivered to Mr Whittaker, winning first place at Concours whenever shown. In 2018 it won the Grand Challenge trophy at National Jaguar Day staged at Woburn Abbey then going through to the Champion of Champion’s at the NEC to represent the SS Jaguar Register.
Now owned by Mr Whittaker’s granddaughter and used for his great granddaughter’s wedding in 2019.
Currently on display with the Jaguar collection at the British Motor Museum, Gaydon. Only covering a very low 65,000 miles from new, it really doesn’t get much better than owning a MK4 Jaguar in this condition.
